Who else miss Sony’s Xperia P series? Well, it looks like Sony is set to perk up its Xperia P series with the leak on Chinese site cnBeta. The site seems to suggest that the successor to the Xperia P will feature high-end hardware, memory, camera, and battery.

In the leak, it features an image of the Xperia P2 next to the Xperia Z4. P2 is expected to come with a spec list at the bottom that reveals a 5.2-inch full-HD TRILUMINOS display, 1.9GHz Snapdragon 810 SoC, 12.1MP camera at the back, 5.1MP front shooter and a massive 4,240mAh battery.

If it is proven right, the leaked image turns out to be the real deal. I’m pretty sure this will be the first high-end device in the Xperia series to not feature Sony’s OmniBalance design in a while.

And as I get through the details, it seems like instead of borrowing from its predecessor by way of a transparent strip at the bottom (albeit without the awkward capacitive buttons), the device appears to come with narrow bezels.

Not only that it features its eye-catching hardware, the site has also listed thickness varying from 8.9 to 10.9mm, suggesting that the Xperia P2 may feature a curved back.

I am pretty skeptical of this. Moving away from their omnibalance design isn’t out of the question, but going back to an old design language seems unlikely, as does picking a name of a previously mid/low end device and elevating it to flagship specs. Also, the spec list here seems more like a fan’s wish list than anything else. But hey, I’ve been wrong before.

In addition, any phone with a snapdragon 810 inside should be dead on arrival as far as I am concern just to teach those guys a valuable lesson. Yet, some people tell that the life of the phone itself will be shorter as heat kills internals.

Again, we can’t really tell if this is legit since Sony doesn’t officially claim it yet. But that’s the details we’ve known so far and as of the moment. Rest assured we’d update you with the development. Meanwhile, feel free to check out PortableChimp’s valuable offer with their ChargerSticks Pink Portable USB Charger – it’s still at $21.98.
